Evergy says it will not be increasing electric rates due to winter weather
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Evergy is assuring customers that their electric rates will not be increasing next month due to the extreme winter weather. Although rates will stay the same, this does not mean customers’ electric bills won’t increase.
The energy company says customers may have a higher bill, but that it is based on the amount of electricity they used that month. During severely cold temperatures, there is typically higher electricity usage as people try to heat their homes.
Evergy says it has not raised its electric rates, and customers may even see lower bills if they conserved energy during the extreme weather.
