TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Lynn Rogers moved from Lieutenant Governor to State Treasurer. Also today, David Toland added lieutenant Governor duties to his Commerce Secretary role. There were two separate swearing-in ceremonies at the Statehouse today.

Rogers served as Lieutenant Governor for two years before today. David Toland will be his replacement, and Rogers is confident he was the right choice.

“David Toland is wonderful, he will do a great job-he is the one that gets out and about and that’s the role of Lt. Governor,” Rogers said.

Toland will carry out his new role as Kansas’ lieutenant governor while continuing to serve as the State’s Secretary of Commerce.

Toland believes, “If we stay true to our values as Kansans, there is no question that our best days are ahead of us.”

Both say they are ready to get to work helping Kansas recover from the pandemic.

“COVID-19 you know, there’s a lot of folks that are unemployed and finding difficulty. So, we need to help them weather this storm, but at the same time get to work on how to make their long-term future bright and prosperous for Kansans,” Rogers explained.
