WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The home opener for the Wichita Thunder professional hockey team brings fans to INTRUST Bank Arena for the first time since the pandemic began last March. The plan for Friday night’s Thunder game includes 15 percent of the arena’s seating capacity allowed to cheer on the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers.

The limited capacity includes six feet of seating distance between groups of fans. Face masks are required inside the arena. Inside, the arena is set up for self-service with ticket scanning and concession purchases.

Through three road games to start its season, the Thunder is off to a strong start, entering Friday’s game against Allen (Texas) with a 3-0 record. The Thunder dominated Allen on the road Thursday (Dec. 31), 7-2. You can see the Thunder’s full 2020-2021 schedule on the team’s website.
