This Winter now the 7th Snowiest of All Time!

The latest round of winter weather to pass through Topeka brought the total snow accumulation for the entire season to 40.7 inches, moving it into a 7th place tie with the winter of 1970-1971. Topeka records for snowfall have been kept since 1887-88, so breaking into the top 10 snowiest seasons is no small feat.

In Concordia, the latest round of snow allowed that site to crack into the top ten. After 2.3 inches of new snow fell late last week, the total snowfall for the season in Concordia jumped to 34.7 inches making it the 7th snowiest season on record.

Although tempertures have been warmer lately, it is still possible to accumulate more snow.....even well into April. The latest observed day of accumulating snow in Topeka is April 24, 1918. Concordia has seen accumulating snow as late as May 1 in 1961 and 1994
