About once or twice a year we get a strong surge of Arctic air into NE Kansas. Temperatures this morning got all the way down to -6 degrees. So when was the last time it was this cold? Not last winter season, but during the 05-06 winter season. On December 9th, 2005 it was -7 degrees in Topeka. Our record low temperature for January 19th is -23 degrees set back in 1892.
