REMARKS...

SEPTEMBER WAS SOMEWHAT WARMER AND DRIER THAN MOST SEPTEMBERS. WARM
WEATHER FROM AUGUST PERSISTED THROUGH THE FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH. A
COLD FRONT THAT MOVED THROUGH TOPEKA EARLY ON THE 7TH HELPED TO
PRODUCE THUNDERSTORMS THAT CREATED WEST WINDS OF AROUND 60 MPH. THE
WINDS CAUSED WIDESPREAD TREE AND MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE TO MANY
PORTIONS OF THE CITY. PERIODIC LIGHT RAINFALL FOLLOWED OVER THE
REMAINDER OF THE MONTH WITH STRETCHES OF BOTH SUMMER AND FALL-LIKE
TEMPERATURES. THE MONTH ENDED WITH A THE PASSAGE OF A STRONG SYSTEM
THAT WAS ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG WINDS IMMEDIATELY AHEAD AND BEHIND IT.
