Several Slide-offs Reported During Morning Rush Hour

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Even though the snow stopped falling in Topeka by Wednesday morning, several accidents spurred the Topeka Police Department to enter into Phase III accident reporting just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

TPD Public Relations Specialist Kristen Veverka said the decision to enter Phase III was made after 10 accidents were reported during morning rush hour. She said none were serious, but between that many accidents and some other "minor traffic incidents," she said, officers were too busy.

During Phase III, officers will only be able to respond on scene when accidents involve a disabled vehicle or injuries to the individuals involved. Police are asking individuals involved in minor, non-injury accidents to file a report at the front desk of the Law Enforcement Center at 320 S. Kansas Ave, at their earliest convenience.
