Topeka Climate Summary for May
It hasn't seemed very warm due to the recent cool weather. Since May 13th highs have been stuck in the 60s, about 10 degrees below average but thanks to warm highs before the cool stretch May has started out warm.
After a high of 59° on May 1st highs were in the 70s and 80s through the 12th. The average high for the first 16 days of May is 77.2° about 1.3° above average. Comparing this to the first half of May last year is has been much warmer. May 1-16 of 2013 the average high was 70.3° which included a high of only 43° May 2nd 2013. Average temperature has been 63.9° which is 1.2° above average.
As far as precipitation we continue to be dry with only 0.84" of rain (1.65" below average). Last year the first half of May measured 1.38" including a trace of snow.
