July Climate Summary So Far

Half way through July and it has dry and slightly cooler than average.

There have been 2 days with highs in the 70s but when average high for this time of year is 89.2° and despite the 5 days with highs in the 90s the other days comprised of 80s that were below average.

Lows were mostly in the 60s and 70s with a stretch of 50s from the 2nd through the 4th and again on the 15th. All this still adds up to an average temperature with lows and highs to 76.3° which is 2.3° below average.

Comparing this to the first half of July to last year it was cooler with 2013 averaging a high of 91.7° and included a high of 105° on the 9th.

After receiving 6.23" of rain in June, rain has been hard to come by in July with 0.80" falling on the 7th and 8th. Altogether receiving only 0.95".

Still much better than the first half of 2013 which totaled only 0.10" the first 15 days. Nonetheless the lack of rain has put us in a 6" deficit for the year and looking ahead to the rest of the month on long range computer models there doesn't seem to be much relief as the precipitation chances in the forecast are small.
