At about 10 am a Dallas officer was flagged down about ice falling from the bridge.
That officer immediately closed one end of the bridge and radioed for help to secure the other side.
Westbound traffic was diverted to Interstate 35 and Riverfront Blvd.
Witnesses say the ice was falling in big chunks with force from the top of the bridge to the ground below.
The lingering ice is from the winter blast that crippled North Texas for days--
But with temperatures beginning to warm up--the melting ice has become a danger from on high.
As it breaks apart it free falls without warning.
DPD says there were no reports of damage or injuries from the falling ice--but it closed the bridge as a precaution
