It was just around 1:00PM
And just like that a massive jam gave way on the rocky river. Huge chunks of ice were pushed around as if they were ice cubes by the sheer force of water now pushing towards the lake. Shards of ice were pushed up and over the banks of the river destroying docks and decks and anything in their path. The ice jam formed overnight and at one point this morning seemed poised to break up.
But that was just a sign of the power that would be unleashed.
They've seen this before but there's no telling how bad it will be.
Pam Bobst said, "We can't predict exactly how the rivers going to react where the damage is going to occur you just have to prepare everyone".
As the ice pushed down the river some chose to see the positives
"This is going to really help the season because the river will be flushed out all those logs and everything will be out of the way"
The hope was there would be limited damage done down the river to homes at the yacht club basin the power was immense.
They have been preparing themselves for weeks because they saw what was happening in the river they understand what can happen and what Mother Nature brings to us
