Frosty Start Saturday Morning

The last time Topeka dropped to the freezing mark was April 25. Northeast Kansas woke up to a frosty start to the day on Saturday with temperatures at or below 32°. The average starting date for the first freeze in Topeka is October 15th so just four days late. Compare that to last year it was a little early with the first time it had dropped to the freezing mark on October 7th.

State wide the first freeze comes a little earlier in late September while northeast KS the first freeze comes later the farther south you go throughout the month of October.
