(WIBW) - An anniversary marked Thursday illustrates the extremes in Kansas weather this time of year.
It was one year ago on the night of Feb. 28 that an EF-2 tornado hit Harveyville, Kansas.
The twister destroyed more than 40 percent of the town, cutting a path five miles long and 150-yards wide. A dozen people were injured and 53-year-old Rick Slade was killed when a portion of his home collapsed on him.
Harveyville will hold a ceremony to mark the anniversary at 5 pm Thursday at the town's fire station.
