August Climate Summary So Far

The first half of August was about average for this time of year with an average high temperatures of 89.3°. The first 6 days had highs in the 90s with highs in the 80s August 7th through the 15th. With lows in the 50s from the 12th-14th that created an average temperatures of 77.6° which is about 1° below average.
Comparing temperatures to 2013, the first half of August last year was cool with an average high of 83.3° with the hottest temperature only 90° which occurred only twice. There were also 4 days with highs in the 70s last year which attributed to the cooler average.
There have been several disturbances throughout the month producing on and off rain chances including 2.30" for Topeka. 1.68" fell on the 6th with 0.48" falling on the 10th. Comparing rainfall to 2013, 5.19" of rain was measured the first 15 days however only 0.02" fell the rest of August 2013.
