Spouts Spawn Tornado Warning

(WIBW) - A storm cell spawned reports of funnel clouds, sparking a tornado warning for northern Osage County just after 7 pm Wednesday.

A trained spotter told 13 News she saw at least two defined funnels drop from the clouds, extend halfway to the ground, then go back up. The funnels were seen near Highway 75, south of Carbondale.

WIBW Chief Meteorologist Jeremy Goodwin and the National Weather Service the funnels are what are known as land spouts, a small, generally weak tornado.

No reports of damage were associated with the storm as of 7:30 pm Wednesday, as the system was moving into Douglas County.
