A large sandstorm has engulfed Arizona in the southwest of the US with wind gusts of 40 miles per hour causing hazardous conditions.
The US National Weather Service has issued dust storm and heat warnings which have been in effect throughout much of the Phoenix metropolitan area on Monday.
Severe thunderstorms generated the high winds, which then kicked up the dust and sand.
Forecasters say visibility is also very low because of the storm. They also warned that there will be hazardous driving conditions.
