114 degrees July 24, 1936
113 degrees August 14, 1936
113 degrees August 13, 1936
112 degrees August 15, 1936
112 degrees August 10, 1934

All of these records were during the "dust bowl". It is possible that these records could stand for the rest of our lives. During the dust bowl, there was very little grass and the region was all powdery dust.
This type of landscape will heat much faster than land with grass and trees.

However... humidity was much lower then and with the "heat index" it is quite possible to see days that "feel hotter".
