For those seeking heat relief during the day, please visit a City of Topeka Community Center or the Salvation Army.

Community Centers and their hours are:

Abbott Community Center

M-F—6-8 pm
Saturday—9 am-4 pm

Central Park Community Center
1534 SW Clay
M-Th—9 am-8 pm
Friday—9 am-3 pm
Closed Saturday and Sunday

Crestview Community Center

M-Th—9 am-2 pm; 5:30-8 pm
Friday—9 am-12 pm

Garfield Community Center

Hillcrest Community Center

The Salvation Army’s Social Service Lobby at 1620 SE 6th St is a "Cooling Station." Those that need reprieve from the heat are welcome to come during the hours of 9am-12pm and 1-4pm. The Evening Meal dining area serves as an additional Cooling Station from 4pm-5pm.
