A major storm was to move out of the Northern Rockies and into the Plains before heading even farther east toward the Upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday.

Morning rain and high elevation snow were likely in the Northern Rockies.

Significant rain and thunderstorms were predicted in the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. There was a risk of severe weather, including tornadoes.

Significant rain was to fall as far north as South Dakota and Minnesota.

In the Southeast, scattered showers and thunderstorms were likely.

Rain was to fall in western Oregon and Washington.

Temperatures were to be in the 80s and 90s in the Southwest through the Southeast; 60s in the Northeast; 40s and 50s in the Northern Plains; and 70s in the Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from 21 degrees at Redmond, Ore., Colo., to 101 degrees at Junction, Texas.
