Today we will have near blizzard conditions, however a blizzard we can not officially call it a blizzard. Just like a spring time thunderstorm is not considered severe unless there are specific conditions, there are certain conditions that need to be met for a snowstorm to be classified as a full fledge blizzard. The conditions are as follows...visibility must be less than 1/4 mile and winds must be in excess of 35MPH. We may have these conditions briefly today but in order to have a blizzard, these conditions must be met for at least 3 hours. We will not see those conditions hold up for 3 hours so we will not officially have a blizzard. We will just have to call it near blizzard conditions.
