Lighthouse Bay Marina & Pomona Lake will be having an event filled weekend on Sat. July 19th & Sun. July 20th as part of the year-long 50th Anniversary celebration of the opening of the Pomona Lake Reservoir & Lighthouse Bay Marina. The weekends activities will include a Miss & Lil’ Miss Pomona Lake Beauty Pageant, Lighthouse Bay Marina 50th Anniversary Open House, Ks Sunflower Showdown with Nauti Water Jet Ski Racing Team, & Free Concert featuring Jeremy McComb Live.

July 19th & 20th Lighthouse Bay Marina will be having a 50th Anniversary Open House including seasonal Boat Slips & Dry Storage 50% off sale remainder of the season, drawings for free water sports give-a-ways, and the Jeremy McComb concert on Sat. evening.
“On July 19th we will be crowning a new Miss & Lil’ Miss Pomona Lake. At the 1964 dedication of Pomona Lake, Miss Judy Mason, Osage City, was crown the 1st Miss Pomona Lake.” Shelley Hodgson, co-owner of Lighthouse Bay Marina said. Pageant will begin at Noon at Lighthouse Bay Marina.
The pageant contestant requirements for the Miss Pomona Lake are to be, between 18-25 years of age, single, & one piece bathing suits only, no cutouts allowed. 1960”s themed swim suits encouraged worn but not required.
The Lil’ Miss Pomona Lake contestant requirements will be, between the ages of 18 months – 3 years of age, 1 piece bathing suit as well.
Pageant will be judged and contestant crowned by Ms. Tobi Roberts, Miss Teen Kansas United States 2013.

The Nauti Water Jet Ski Racing Teams will bring the exciting and face-paced jet ski racing circuit to Pomona Lake starting at 10:00 am on Sat & Sun. running until 5:00 pm. Nauti Water racing will take jet ski racing to the limit and will be sure to entertain the entire family.
Jeremy McComb will be preforming Sat. July 19th sponsored by Lighthouse Bay Marina & KOFO 1220, at 8:00 pm at Lighthouse Bay, Pomona State Park. This is a free concert to the public with Jeremy performing his new hit single “Love Song”. After tour managing the biggest comedy tour in the country (Larry the Cable guy/Blue Collar Comedy Tour) writing movie soundtracks (one of which was nominated for a grammy) and songs that have appeared on projects selling over 6 million units including 3 Nationally Charting Hits “Wagon Wheel“, “This Town Needs a bar” & “Cold” which all appeared on Billboard. McComb is a performer who has seen it all.
Spending years with major & major independent record deals and touring with: Sugarland, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry & many others… His first album “My Side of Town” was picked by People Magazine as “Nine stars to Watch”, received countless 4+ star reviews including from “Country Weekly” who called it one of the years most encouraging albums of the year. Canstruction will exhibit amazing, 10 x 10 feet structures made entirely of cans of food and other non-perishables. The structures will be made by seven teams: Treanor Architects, HTK Architects, Tevis Architects, Barlett and West Engineers, Architect One, Schwerdt Design Group, Inc., and the American Institute of Architecture Student Chapter from K-State. With the exception of the AIA team, all of the teams are from Topeka. When the exhibit closes, the cans are donated to Harvesters, the Community Food Network, which supplies area food banks. Canstruction is an international program of the Society of Design Administration. Local sponsors of the event are Hy-Vee, Inc., Advisors Excel, and Knox Signs and Graphics. Structures will be given awards, including a People’s Choice Award voted on by visitors to the exhibition. The Mulvane Art Museum is open from 10-7 Tuesdays, 10-5 Wednesday-Friday, and 1-4 Saturday and Sunday.
