9th Annual Westmoreland Wagon Wheels Car Show
“The Westmoreland Area Chamber will be having their 9th Annual Wagon Wheels Car Show this Saturday starting at 10 am. This will be second year that we’ve opened it up to include motorcycles and tractors. Last year we had approximately a total of 75 entries between the cars, motorcycles and tractors. The event is on Main Street and 3rd Street. The chamber serves a lunch meal of Frito pie, chili dog or hot dog, chips and a drink. All the proceeds from the Car Show and the meal is used by the chamber to help promote the local businesses and provide assistance to various city projects throughout the year.
Also, there is a quilt show, vendors and city wide garage sales and from 1 – 2pm a demonstration of clogging by an area group.
We hope that people will come and spend the day with us in Westmoreland, view the car show entrants, shop in our local businesses, enjoy the parade and stay for the BBQ and entertainment.”

We are a unique organization as we have color stations set up along race routes with volunteers who throw colored cornstarch on race participants a number of times, and at the end of the race, we have an awesome DJ put on a killer dance party where even more color is thrown! But wait! There's more! A portion of the race's proceeds are donated to a local charity near you! We have found that our events create a colorful and pleasantly unexpected experience for the community, all in the name of fun.
Men, women, and children of all ages are welcome! As this race is not timed, participants are allowed to walk, run, skip, DANCE, and even push wagons or strollers with little ones in-tow! Bring the whole family along because children 7 and under are FREE!

Canstruction will exhibit amazing, 10 x 10 feet structures made entirely of cans of food and other non-perishables. The structures will be made by seven teams: Treanor Architects, HTK Architects, Tevis Architects, Barlett and West Engineers, Architect One, Schwerdt Design Group, Inc., and the American Institute of Architecture Student Chapter from K-State. With the exception of the AIA team, all of the teams are from Topeka. When the exhibit closes, the cans are donated to Harvesters, the Community Food Network, which supplies area food banks. Canstruction is an international program of the Society of Design Administration. Local sponsors of the event are Hy-Vee, Inc., Advisors Excel, and Knox Signs and Graphics. Structures will be given awards, including a People’s Choice Award voted on by visitors to the exhibition.
