Lecture: Contemporary Reflections

Artists will participate in a conversation about their experiences with desegregation and how those experiences shaped the works presented in the exhibition. Dr. Delia Gillis, Directior of Africana Studies and Professor of History and Anthropology at the University of Central Missouri, will moderate the panel. Participating artists include Nedra Bonds, Lonnie Powell, Sonie Ruffin, Michael Toombs, Phil Shafer and Shane Evans.

Topeka’s 6th Annual Tulip Time, continuing a longtime tradition started by Jerold Binkley, is scheduled April
4-20. Visitors can enjoy the splendor of over 100,000
tulips and daffodils in the beautifully, landscaped parks
in the Ted Ensley Gardens at Lake Shawnee, SE 37th
and West Edge Road; Doran Rock Garden at Gage
Park, 601 SW Gage Blvd; Botanical Garden at Old
Prairie Town, 124 NW Fillmore.
Group Tours:
At Old Prairie Town visitors can enjoy a self-guided tulip
tour for a suggested donation of $5 per person. Historic
building tours are available daily beginning at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm for $4 per person. Please contact John.Bell@snco.us or call 368-2439 to schedule a building tour for groups of 15 or more.
Group tours are available weekdays at the Ted Ensley
