Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, L. Philip Billard Post # 1650, 3110 SW Huntoon Street, will host a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony on 7 December, 2013 at 2:00pm. The ceremony will first deliver a short presentation by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Raymond Rhodd covering the significant events as they unfolded 72 years ago on the morning of the attack.
Secondly, guest speaker, Tech. Sergeant (Retired) Max A. Baker, a long-time Topeka resident, who was assigned to the 72d Heavy Bomber Squadron at Hickam Field as an Armament Specialist in 1940.
Sergeant Baker recalled his initial reaction to the attack, “The barracks exploded and it was a mess, I couldn't find my foot locker, but strangely I found a full sized Bible that my family had given me.”
Following the guest speaker’s presentation, honors will be rendered to those that were killed in the attack. This event is open to the public, especially any other Veterans of the attack on that, “Day that will live in infamy.”

Topeka, Kansas — 5 Kansas comedians will take the stage at Eclipse Urban Lounge on Saturday Dec 07, at the "Comedy @ Eclipse" Comedy show.

Jerome Staab and Josh Morgan are regulars at The Break Room's "So u Think U R Funny" comedy showcase, and have both appeared on multiple shows throughout Kansas.
Also performing will be Brian Doby, Ed Davis, and Luis Powell Moreno.
Brian Doby, was chosen as one of few finalists in the American Black Film Festival's first ever "Comedy Wings" Competition (sponsored by HBO).
Ed Davis was part of the "Funniest Person in Wichita" contest, where he placed third, has toured all over the Midwest, and worked with several national headlining acts. Davis brings an energy to the stage that keeps the crowd laughing throughout his entire performance. He is arguably one of the funniest comics in Kansas.
Luis Powell Moreno is a well known Kansas City favorite when it comes to live comedy in the area. A few of Powell's credits include: Winner of Southwest Laff Off, Winner of KC Icons Comedy Competition, and currently a finalist in the Last Laugh comedy competition.

The show will be hosted by Vicki Trembly, of Topeka Civic Theatres "Laugh Lines".
There will be a full bar available for the entire night, and a live D.J. spinning until 2:00 A.M. Cover charge is only $5, so please help us make this event a success by coming out and supporting live comedy in Topeka. Bring your friends and enjoy a fun night out.
