4th Annual, Heartland Bladesmithing Symposium

This expo is for the knife enthusiast, knife collector and knife maker, from beginner to Master. The registration fee for attendees is $65. Featured will be demonstrations by ABS Master Smiths and Journeyman Smiths from Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.
The demonstrations for attendees will include basic blade forging and grinding, take-down knife making, silver wire inlay, leather sheath making, designer steel making with thermite, decorative file-work and wrapped frame knife handle making. Hands on knife project assistance and a question and answer time on knifemaking topics will be held on Sunday.

LIFE CHAINS WILL FORM October 6, 2013
LIFE CHAIN 2013 will take place October 6, 2013] from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. This is an international hour of prayer for our nation and a peaceful, prayerful public witness on behalf of the unborn at risk of abortion. LIFE CHAIN participants will stand and pray on sidewalks of major roadways in cities across the nation and Canada, holding professionally printed signs.

Geri Allen is an internationally renowned composer and pianist. Since 1982 she has recorded, performed or collaborated with Ravi Coltrane, Dianne Reeves, Bill Cosby, Ron Carter, Ornette Coleman and many others.
Drummer Terri Lyne Carrington has been at the top of the music industry for almost 25 years, collaborating with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Cassandra Wilson, Clark Terry, Nancy Wilson, George Duke, Dianne Reeves and more.
In one of the most stunning achievements in jazz history, bassist Esperanza Spalding captured the world's attention upon earning the title of Best New Artist at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. A gifted performer with a hypnotic voice, Spalding stretches the boundaries of jazz.
