I wanted to let you know that my last day at WIBW will be Friday. I will be moving closer to home to pursue other opportunities.
I have called Topeka and northeast Kansas my home for the past two years, and have had my ups and downs during that time. I want to thank you for being patient with me while I learned about the business of television. I was very nervous when I first started working here, straight out of college with no real on-air experience. I have learned so much since then!
Thanks to those of you who provided me with support, guidance and encouragement during my time at WIBW. For those of you who are not upset to see me go, I think I have learned the most from you. Bill Cosby put it best by stating "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone."
Even though I will miss my friends and colleagues, I am looking forward to this new challenge and starting a new phase of my life!
Candice began her career at WIBW-TV in October 2006 as a weekend meteorologist. In May of 2007, she moved to the morning Meteorologist position, co-hosting 13 News This Morning, with Lindsey Shively and Dave Johnson. Prior to working at WIBW-TV, Candice graduated with a degree in Meteorology from Iowa State University in May of 2006, and interned for TV stations in Omaha and Des Moines.
While in Topeka, Candice worked as a loaned executive for the United Way. That experience allowed her to better understand the needs of a community and the hard work it takes to meet those needs. She was a member of the Sunflower Chapter of the Association for Women in Science and also volunteered in the emergency room at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Candice is now spending time with her family in Iowa.
