Dana Wright began her career in television as a summer intern at WIBW-TV in 1995. She was eager to get started but remembers during her first story assignment, she had no idea what to do with the microphone she was using to interview a local teacher. She describes herself as being "really green and really, really bad". Following the internship, she began working weekends and, not long after that, began anchoring the morning news. She was then promoted to anchor the evening news, and eventually obtained a reporter/anchor position with KCTV-5 in Kansas City. Dana's been with KCTV for 7 years, now anchoring the 4pm to 5pm hour of early evening news. She reports during the 5 pm and 6 pm newscasts and hosts the weekly political and community affairs program "Your Kansas City". And she works in the station's award-winning investigative unit. Dana grew up in Topeka and graduated from the University of Kansas. She and her husband, Joe, have four children.
