I arrived at WIBW Channels in March of 2007, just a couple short months before the Greensburg Tornado struck in May of 2007, and I have covered numerous severe weather and winter weather events since. I worked as the weekend meteorologist for a year and a half before being promoted to the weekday morning meteorologist position in September of 2008, and that is the position I currently hold. In November of 2009 I was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society. I was the 390th meteorologist to ever receive this prestigious distinction. Being a native of Kansas City, it is great to work in an area so close to friends and family in the Kansas City area but Topeka is now my home. I started my broadcast meteorology career as an intern in the summer of 2004 under Bryan Busby at KMBC Channel 9 in Kansas City. From there, I spent two years as the fill in Meteorologist at KOMU TV 8 (NBC) in Columbia, Missouri as I finished my degree in meteorology at Mizzou. I love the weather and love that I get to report on it each day I come to work. My obsession with Mother Nature comes from my interest in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping are my three favorite hobbies. It is a sure bet that on my days off during spring turkey season and from October through January you can find me in my favorite field, marsh, or forest, getting close to critters. As with all outdoorsmen, I love telling and listening to stories (usually exaggerated) of time spent in the outdoors. So please shoot me an email or post on my blog with your tales, successful or unsuccessful. I also am a sports fanatic, bleeding red and blue. Red is for the Chiefs, while you will see me wearing blue during the summer to support the Royals. If you see me out and about, come introduce yourself. Also if you have any questions or comments don’t hesitate to send me an email or give me a call.
