Nothing is more exciting than March Madness or the NFL Playoffs. Growing up, when I wasn’t out playing sports, I was watching them. Basketball was my favorite, and I spent many hours playing on the driveway or in gyms, whenever I could find one open. I headed south for my first year of college to play basketball at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. After a year in Joplin, I returned to Topeka to work toward a degree in Mass Media at Washburn University.
During the 2005 – 2006 school year, I gained experience at Washburn anchoring the sports for WUCT News. I was hired part-time at WIBW TV in September of 2005 as part of the sports team, shooting sports. In January of 2006, I was given the opportunity work full-time and gained valuable experience shooting both news and sports. September of 2006 marked the point when I became a full-time member of the WIBW Sports Team.
Growing up, I always had a strong sense of team, so it's exciting to be a part of what I know is a great 13 Sports Team. Working with Mark and J.B., to bring the best of Kansas sports to everyone out there, is something I enjoy every day. My family still all lives in and around Topeka. My parents, Brad and Jamie; my sister, Kristin; and my brother, Jonathan are the best family anyone could ask for. I give God the credit for all my success in life, my great family, and the great job He has given me in covering sports.
During time away from work I really like to get out and run. I like playing basketball whenever I get a chance. I also enjoy playing cards and video games, watching good movies, and listening to good music. I never miss the late Sportscenter, and basketball games are a must watch, whether it’s the Big 12, ACC, or the Missouri Valley games.
