Growing up I was always very talkative and inquisitive. Everyone told me I would grow up to be a talk show host or a TV news reporter, sure enough I grew up and became just that… a news reporter. It began as a childhood dream, a college curriculum and now the early development of a life long career.
I joined the WIBW news team as a general assignment reporter in August 2007; two months later I earned the position of weekday reporter and weekend anchor. My experience dates back to reporting and anchoring in college while attending Oakland University in my home state of Michigan. At Oakland University, I majored in Communication. I interned for two large market TV stations, WDIV and WJBK in Detroit before taking my first TV job in Alpena, Michigan at WBKB as the evening anchor. I was also the host of a weekly interview show, "Insights into Northeast Michigan." While at WBKB I had the great privilege of reporting President Gerald Ford’s Funeral. My second TV job brought me here to Topeka Kansas in February 2007. Previously I worked for 27 News as a general assignment reporter before making the transition here to the Kansas News Leader 13 News. In 2007 I won a Kansas Association of Broadcasters Award for “In-depth News Reporting” for my coverage on horse slaughter in the state of Kansas.
Even though my career has distanced myself from family and friends back in Michigan I have made some amazing friends since moving here. I am excited to be able to continue to serve all of you in Northeast Kansas and truly enjoy each day that I’m working and living in Topeka.
When I am not at work you can find me at Starbucks sipping on a Latte over my laptop screen or at the gym working out with my personal trainer.
