I'm so excited to be with the WIBW team who have been so kind since I signed on in February of 2007. After almost 18 years in radio I've decided to hang up the headphones and try out what I actually studied in college. I had such a great time studying TV in my time at Park University back in the mid 1990's. I just never thought I'd actually have the opportunity to pursue it as my career.
When I started in radio in 1989 it was such an exciting time since I was a junior in high school and all the students thought it was so fun that I was on the air at such a young age. In Kansas City I spent years doing morning radio using the name "Just Plain Dave" at Z95.7, Mix 93.3 and Q104.
Over the years I've met some amazing people and got to broadcast live from the Olympics in Atlanta and even the Olympics in Athens, Greece. That was an amazing experience. Especially because I would usually have to wake up at about 4am for our morning show...but because of the time difference in Athens our show started at 2pm! Now that's MY kind of morning show!
I was born and raised in Kansas City and met my wife there. We've been married for almost 3 years and it's been amazing. She was born and raised in Salina, Kansas so a lot of her old friends can actually watch every day!
Working with Lindsay and Candice on the morning show has been a great experience. They both do an amazing job of putting up with my behind the scene antics. And we love having Adam Runyan with us on the morning crew now too. I'm so happy to call Topeka and WIBW home. Now if we could somehow figure out how to start the morning show at 9am instead of 5am!
