I joined the WIBW-TV team in June 2005 as an intern and soon began reporting stories on air. I was promoted to part-time reporter/producer in October 2005. In December 2005, I was promoted to general assignment reporter and weekend co-anchor. In September of 2006, I became the weekday morning co-anchor. Although, I have never been known as a "morning" person, I have made the adjustment and enjoy working with Candice Sorensen and Dave Johnson. The three of us hope to inform our viewers, but to also put a smile on their face each morning!
I'm originally from Kansas City, Missouri. I began college with the plan to study Political Science and go to law school, but after taking a broadcast journalism class, knew I had found my true passion! I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City where I majored in Communications and earned a minor in Political Science. I began my television news career in 2004 as an intern at KMBC-TV in Kansas City. I also hosted a weekly car show on PAX, called "Cartunz" in 2004.
I'm excited to be working in the Capital City. I love coming into viewers homes each morning to share with them things they need to know before they head out the door. I'm also excited to cover other stories that are important to Topekans.
My parents named me after the popular Fleetwood Mac song, "Rhiannon". I was supposed to be named "January" but when I was born two months early, my mother decided to name me after her favorite song!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, exercising, and movies. I am a huge animal lover, so I love going to my mom's house in KC to spend time with her and our dog, Lola. I also enjoy doing things out in the community and meeting people with different backgrounds.
