Meet Chris Fisher
The next time you are awake in the middle of the night and look over at the clock and it says 3 a.m., think of me, because that's the time my alarm goes off every weekday morning. Two hours is hardly enough time to prepare for TV that time of the day or night, but it somehow happens.
Aside from my super early bedtime, I am absolutely loving the chance that I have to work in a business that I've wanted to work in since I was in the 5th Grade at Basehor Elementary School.
I grew up in the town of Basehor, then moved to Topeka in 2002 to take my first full-time job in the media business working at KTPK 106.9 Radio.
In 2004, I was named the station's Program Director and Morning Show host. I moved to a Late Afternoon air-shift on Country Legends 106.9 in 2010 before leaving for WIBW-TV in October 2011.
When I'm not at work, I'm usually doing something outside because I absolutely love the outdoors. I'm an avid fisherman, hunter and just a guy who likes to be in the elements exploring all of nature's wonder. You should try it sometime if you don't get out of the city that much; I recommend going somewhere your cell phone doesn't get reception.
Every year in August I hold my annual "Sporting Clays for Kids" shoot at Ravenwood Lodge. This year, we had over 75 shooters, 36 sponsors and raised over $14,500 for the Children's Service Programs at TARC. I am truly humbled to live in a community that is so supportive and generous when it comes to supporting a worthy cause.
A few other items worth mentioning would be that I've been a member of the Civitan Club of Topeka since 2008, I am a board member of the Kaw Valley Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation and 2013 graduate of the Leadership Greater Topeka program.
I have a 7 year old son Blake, who is a chip off the 'ol block as they say and he enjoys most of the same things his father does. Although, he tends to get a little bit dirtier than I do during the process.
My absolute favorite thing about being a member of the local media has been, and will always be the people. I have built so many wonderful relationships with listeners and viewers over the past several years and I hope that never ends.
Thanks for watching. Feel free to drop me a line anytime through email, Facebook or Twitter.
Have a great day!
