Welcome to my reality! Having grown up in the market, WIBW-TV has been, and always will be the station I turn to for news and entertainment. Now, with a degree from Washburn University in Marketing and Management, I am able to put my knowledge to work for my clients, helping businesses thrive utilizing the market powerhouse WIBW-TV for promotion.
My journey with the station started to take shape from an event I hosted at Washburn University with Danni Boatwright, winner of ‘SURVIVOR GUATEMALA.’
That was just the beginning. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to attend each of the SURVIVOR finales in NYC and LA. I have grown to know many of the different CBS reality show cast members personally and have even met Jeff Probst. CBS is the most watched network and in my home!
I have been involved with a number of local organizations like the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Topeka Inc, Topeka Youth Project, United Way, and the Sales and Marketing Executives of Topeka to name a few.
Jim is thrilled to be part of the 13Marketing/WIBW family and loves using over 30 years of sales experience to help develop, customize and grow your business utilizing a wide variety of marketing solutions. Those of you that know him, know that he always has your best interest at heart and is committed to you and your business.
He was born and raised in Topeka, lived all over the country, but has come home to the community that he loves. Jim is a proud member of the Board of Directors for CASA of Shawnee County, where he is also an active volunteer. He is a member of Topeka South Rotary and has served as an ambassador with the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. Jim has been involved with the American Cancer Society as a multi-year Relay for Life team captain and has worked with The United Way.
Jim has acted since he was 8, mostly in theatre, but has also acted in television, film, industrials, commercials and has even done some voice over work. His passion, however, is live theatre. Having acted professionally, he now does it just for “the fun and love of it” and was proud to be inducted into the Topeka Civic Theatre Hall of Fame in 2010, where he is very active with his wife and children.
He is married to the love of his life, Shelley, has 9 children and 7 grandchildren…the reason he exists!

At the age of 10 years, Dave fed his interest in video production by saving up his allowance to rent a VHS video camera for a weekend; editing by hooking two VCRs together. Since then, Dave has worked for over 20 years creating compelling video for both broadcast and online. His work has earned numerous awards, including ten 1st place KAB awards, 4 Telly awards, several AAF-Topeka ADDY awards, and was a part of the team at CJOnline.com that won 5 Editor & Publisher “Edgie” awards.
A graduate of Emporia State University in Theater and Washburn University in Mass Media Broadcasting, Dave enjoys participating in several national 48-Hour film competitions, of which he has taken the top prize more than once. He was also Executive Producer for “Tough Grit – The Rural America Challenge” which was nominated twice for regional Emmy awards.
Dave’s wife Laurie is a long-time educator, and is currently the resident costumer for Helen Hocker Theater in Topeka. Together they are at least partially responsible for the actions of 5 tech-savvy children.
