Kansas City, Mo. – Washburn’s Max Lazzo has been named the MIAA Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week while Cassie Lowell has been named the Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week for the second straight time.
MIAA Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week
Max Lazzo, Washburn
Max won the UCM Heart of America Invitational after winning with a birdie from the fringe on the first playoff hole snapping a three-way tie. Lazzo was 1-over for the tournament with rounds of 73, 74 and 67 en route to a three-round total of 214. The 6-1 sophomore is a native of Wichita, Kan. where he competed at Kapaun Mount Carmel High School.

MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week
Cassie Lowell, Northwest Missouri
Lowell finished third at the Northwest Invitational shooting 79 on day one and 78 on day two for a two-day total of 157. Lowell finished +13 for the event while helping her team finished second out of nine teams. The senior is a native of Concordia, Kans. where she competed at Concordia High School.
