TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn Ichabod head basketball coach Bob Chipman has wrapped up the 2012-13 signing class with the addition of four transfers who will join two signees from the early period and will play for Washburn this fall. The Ichabods finished last season with a 19-8 record finishing in a tie for third in the MIAA final standings.
Junior transfers Chris Davis, Stephon Drane, Korey Fisher and Turon Parker wrap up the group joining prep standouts Andy Wilson (Abilene, Kan./Abilene High School) and Jeremy Lickteig (Wichita, Kan./Kapaun Mt. Carmel) who inked with the Ichabods in the early signing period. Also rejoining the Ichabods after sitting out last season will be junior Jeff Reid.
Chris Davis (6-0, 180, Junior, Guard • Colorado Springs, Colo./North Iowa Area/Fountain Fort Carson High School)
As a sophomore for the Trojans, Davis averaged 18.4 ppg, 5.4 apg while leading the league with 107 steals and 85 3-pointers … his scoring averaged was third in the league and his rebounds were 12th overall … earned first team all-region honors … scored a career-high 33 points against Quakerdale Promise Academy on Nov. 16, 2012 hitting six 3-point field goals … overall he hit 85 of 251 3-point attempts … as a freshman he averaged 13.8 ppg leading the Trojans in scoring finishing second on the team with 61 3-point field goals … as a senior at Fountain Fort Carson High School he led the team scoring 18.9 ppg and was a first team all-conference pick in football and basketball … as a junior he averaged 17.5 ppg earning first team all-conference honors reaching the sweet 16 in the state tournament winning the conference title … he is the son of Valarie Davis and he is majoring in criminology.
Stephon Drane (6-8, 225, Junior, Forward • Raleigh, N.C./Western Kentucky/Garner High School)
A transfer from NCAA Division I Western Kentucky … as a sophomore he appeared in 32 of 36 games making one start and averaged 2.1 ppg playing 6.4 minutes per game … he was 28 of 56 from the field … scored a season-high nine points against Middle Tennessee State … received a medical redshirt during the 2011-12 season after suffering a knee injury … as a freshman he appeared in 18 games playing 4.2 minutes per game connecting on 7 of 11 field goal attempts grabbing 14 rebounds … was part of two Sun Belt Conference Championship teams … at Garner High School he was named the conference player of the year and a first team all-league pick as well as an all-state selection and a McDonald's All-American nominee after averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a game … son of Mike and Shelly Drane … majoring in recreation administration.
Korey Fisher (6-2, 180, Junior, Guard • East Orange, N.J./Passaic County Community College/Montclair High School)
Joined the Ichabods for practice in the spring … as a sophomore he averaged 25.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 4.0 steals per game … hit 50 of 111 3-point attempts during the season … scored 46 points against Springfield Tech as sophomore … earned first team all-region honors … started collegiate career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M where he averaged 3.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game … was named third team all-county at Montclair High School … team won state championships as a junior and sophomore … son of Kim and Caren Fisher.
Turon Parker (6-0, 175, Junior, Guard • Canton, Ohio/Barton County Community College/Glen Oak High School)
Started all 34 games as sophomore averaging 11.8 ppg with 3.5 assists per game … hit 59 of 159 3-point attempts adding 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game … scored a season-high 22 points against Seward Community College … helped lead the Cougars to a 54-13 record with back-to-back trips to the final four of the Region VI tournament reaching the regional championship game this past season … was an all-league pick as a sophomore … as a freshman he averaged 9.1 ppg and 3.1 apg.
