Former Jayhawk Sutherland to Play for USA All-Star Team in China
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas women’s basketball player Aishah Sutherland will be one of 12 players to represent the United States at the Four Nations Tournament June 17-30 in China, which features the Chinese National "B" team, the Australia Rising Opals and the national team of Hungary in addition to the U.S. squad.
The U.S. team, organized and coached by NetScouts Basketball, will play a round-robin format in three cities for a total of nine games. The team will play six games in Jiangxi Province (June 17-19, 21-23) then play three games in Changshu, in Jiangsu Province (June 25-27). From there the team will head to Beijing to play two games against the China U19 National team (June 29-30). The team will return to American soil on July 1.
After Kansas, Sutherland played briefly with the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA, before playing professionally in Italy. With the Jayhawks, she averaged 13.9 points and 8.9 rebounds during her senior season which included a trip to the 2012 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
