MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State’s Chris Harper and Braden Wilson were selected in the NFL Draft on Saturday, while five other former Wildcats, including Heisman Trophy finalist Collin Klein, agreed to free agent deals with organizations.

Harper was taken in the fourth round (123rd overall) by Seattle, while Wilson was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round (204th overall). A big and physical receiver, Harper led the team with 58 receptions for 857 yards and three touchdowns a year ago, while Wilson was a mainstay in the backfield as a lead blocker for a Wildcat rushing attack that ranked among the Big 12’s best in each of the last two seasons.

The pair joins Arthur Brown, who was a second-round pick of the Ravens, to give the Wildcats three or more draftees for the first time since 2007 and a total of 49 draft selections under head coach Bill Snyder. All three players are also Kansas natives.

Following a record-setting senior season, Klein agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, along with linebacker Justin Tuggle, while punter Ryan Doerr (Denver), running back Angelo Pease (Green Bay) and tight end Travis Tannahill (Cleveland) have all agreed to free agent deals.

Harper, Wilson, Klein, Doerr and Tannahill earned All-Big 12 accolades in 2012, while all eight players who have either been drafted or inked free agent deals were instrumental in the Wildcats’ rise to a No. 1 national ranking and Big 12 Championship a year ago.
