Ichabods Score Big Again To Get Win Over Barry

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Washburn recorded its highest point total against an NCAA II school since 2010-11 in a 94-67 win Sunday over Barry on the final day of the Nova Southeastern Sharks Tip-Off Classic.

The 22nd-ranked Ichabods improved to 1-1 as they averaged 90.5 points in the two games. They'll will continue their four-game, season opening road trip Saturday in a neutral-site game at 2 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist in Jessieville, Ark.

Casyn Buchman improved on the career high she set Saturday with a 24-point effort Sunday. She was 9 of 15 from the field with four 3-pointers, also a career-high. She had four double-figure games all last year and has reached that mark in both games so far this year.

Kara Lee came off the bench for 18 points as she made 7 of 9 shots and all four free throw attempts. Honor Duvall scored 12 points, Brittney Lynch had 11 and Janelle Travis had 10. Lynch was 5 of 5 from the free throw line.

Buchman, Lynch and Lee led Washburn with seven rebounds each. Travis had seven assists and just one turnover running Washburn's offense.

The Ichabods pushed their 11-point halftime lead to 20 points 4:14 into the second half after a 6-0 run that ended on a three-point play from Lynch. The Buccaneers scored after that to cut it to 18 but two free throws from Lee pushed it back to 20 and it stayed that high the rest of the game.

Bench points from Johna McClelland and Haley Pfau late in the game helped push it to a game-high 29 points.

The Ichabods shot 49 percen as a team while Barry shot 42 percent. Washburn made 18 of 21 free throws and 8 of 24 3-pointers.The Bucs shot just 10 free throws and made eight of them. They were 9 of 22 from long range.

Washburn led in rebounds, 46-25 and had nine turnovers while the Bucs had 12. The Ichabods dominated in points off turnovers, 20-2 and also led in second-chance points, 21-2 as they grabbed 17 offensive rebounds.

LYnae Richardson and Ines Kerin led Barry with 15 points each. The two combined to go 8 of 14 from 3-point range.

Washburn's 94 points is its most against an NCAA II school since scoring 95 on January 29, 2011.
