MANHATTAN, Kan. – As part of K-State's continuing commitment to the best fan experience in the Big 12, new programs and enhancements will be implemented at Bill Snyder Family Stadium for the 2013 football season.
The improvements and highlights include an expanded south concourse, a customer service staff recognition program, fan ambassadors for increased assistance, in-game highlights from other games across the country during selected breaks in the action and other fan engagement promotions.
“We want the gameday experience at K-State to be special,” said Scott Garrett, Associate Athletics Director for Tickets and Fan Strategies. “Our goal is for fans to walk away from our stadium – regardless of whether the team won or lost and which team they are supporting – and feel that their return on investment was well beyond the price of their ticket and that it was a very special experience.”
Below is a complete list of gameday enhancements at Bill Snyder Family Stadium for 2013:
Expanded South Concourse: To alleviate congestion along the south concourse, -- especially with increased traffic to the new restrooms, concession stands, K-State Super Store and Hall of Honor on the west side -- extensive renovations have been made. The pathway formerly between the stadium and Bramlage Coliseum has been incorporated into the south concourse now allowing fans to remain within the stadium and walk behind the south concessions tents without navigating through lines or other fans entering the south end zone sections. Additionally, a plaza area featuring patio tables and a grassy embankment has been developed near a reconstructed Gate M on the southeast corner of the stadium providing an area for fans and families to relax. Fans who wish to travel between the east and west parking lots during tailgating hours may utilize the Bramlage Coliseum concourse, which opens along with parking lots five hours before kickoff. Fans can enjoy indoor seating, restrooms and concessions inside Bramlage.
Best Fan Experience Staff Service Recognition Program: Providing the best fan experience in the Big 12 starts with the best gameday staff, and fans will have the ability to recognize and reward event staff for providing exceptional customer service and creating memorable game experiences by giving them service recognition vouchers. Season-ticket holders received vouchers for each game in their season-ticket book, and single-game purchasers can stop by the ticket offices or Fan Accommodations booths to participate in the program.
Event staff (parking attendants, ticket-takers and ushers, ticket sales representatives, concessions workers and others) who receive vouchers can earn rewards including championship lapel pins, gift certificates to the K-State Super Store, and official Nike team apparel.
Fan Ambassadors: Fans who have questions on gameday can visit the Fan Accommodations booths on either the east or west side of the stadium or seek out a volunteer member of the new Fan Ambassadors, who will be welcoming and assisting fans inside and outside of the stadium. Volunteers are current season-ticket holders who embody the K-State Family message and will be distinguished by special vests and clipboards.
First-Time Certificate: K-State Family members who are attending their first football game in Bill Snyder Family Stadium should visit the Fan Experience gazebo near the southeast plaza behind Section 18 for a commemorative certificate celebrating their first game. All first-time guests, regardless of age, are eligible.
Fan Guides: New fold-out fan guides with a detailed map of stadium amenities will be available at the ticket windows and Fan Accommodations booths on both the east and west sides of the stadium.
Tagboard: K-State Athletics is proud to announce a new partnership with Tagboard, a Redmond, Wash., based company whose technology will give fans the opportunity to display their photos and messages on the videoboards by using predetermined hashtags on their social media accounts. Tagboard is known as the hashtag hub because it aggregates posts from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, App.net and Google +. Fans wishing to submit photos for the popular Future Wildcats promotion can do so by using #FutureWildcats and all fans can use the hashtag #KStateGameday for the opportunity to be featured pregame and in the Cox Fan Photos promotion during the game. The department is excited about the partnership and the new dimension Tagboard adds to social media at K-State.
In-game highlights: During select game breaks, K-StateHD.TV host Brian Smoller will provide the most up-to-date scores and video highlights from games across the country.
Willie’s Fun Zone in Bramlage Coliseum: Willie’s Fun Zone will open three hours prior to kickoff in Bramlage Coliseum and feature free games, photo booths, giveaways and more. Concessions, seating and restrooms are also available on the Bramlage concourse, which will serve as the pathway connecting the east and west parking lots due to the expansion of the south concourse.
Cat Town: K-State and tailgating are synonymous, and fans without designated tailgating locations can visit Cat Town pregame to purchase concessions from Hy-Vee, as well as enjoy entertainment, including the live K-State Sports Network pregame radio show featuring Bruce Haertl and Stan Weber and a public tent with plenty of seating and televisions showing college football games from across the country.
Fifth Annual K-State Family Reunion: The 2013 home opener against North Dakota State on August 30 will mark the Fifth Annual K-State Family Reunion, and this year, in addition to the fan-favorite post-game fireworks show, an ultra high-resolution, 360-degree photo will be taken of the 50,000 fans in attendance at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and the new West Stadium Center. The interactive photo – powered by Blakeway Worldwide Panoramas – will allow fans to find and tag themselves, share with friends, win prizes and celebrate the game. Fans should be in their seats at the start of the game to be included in the photo.
Guest-Text Alert Service: Fans are reminded to utilize the text message service on gameday. Text the word CATFAN followed by a space and then your issue and location to 69050. Your message will be sent directly to the athletics gameday security and operations staff.
Surveys: Providing the best fan experience in the Big 12 is dependent on feedback from fans. The Fan Experience staff will be conducting surveys on iPads during gameday, and all fans are also reminded to fill out the post-game survey by visiting www.kstatesports.com/bestfanexperience
K-State opens the 2013 season by welcoming the two-time defending FCS National Champion Bison in a special Friday-night contest on August 30. The sold-out contest will be televised nationally by FOX Sports 1.
Season tickets for the upcoming season in addition to single-game tickets for the 2013 opener are sold out. Several hundred general admission/SRO tickets for all home games except North Dakota State and Iowa State remain available, while a limited number of scattered single seats are available five home games (Louisiana, UMass, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma).
