Kansas City, Mo. -- A top ten match-up highlights the calendar as MIAA football moves into week seven.
Fort Valley State at #13 Washburn
#13 Washburn will step outside of league play in week seven as they welcome Fort Valley State. The Ichabods are led by Mitch Buhler who is averaging 267 yards per game passing with 14 touchdowns in the air and two on the ground. Vershon Moore is averaging 84 yards per game rushing with six scores while Tore’ Hurst and Jordan Hart each have three touchdown catches. Defensively Bryce Atagi leads the way with 48 tackles and is joined with three interceptions by Willie Williams. For the visiting Wildcats Eugene Smith is averaging 160 yards per game through the air with three scores and he has five scores on the ground. Defensively for FVSU LeRon Furr has 52 total tackles with three sacks and two fumble recoveries while Thomas Wolfe has five total interceptions.
Lincoln at Nebraska-Kearney
Lincoln will travel to Nebraska-Kearney in week seven action as each team seeks their second win. For the Blue Tigers Morris Henderson is averaging an even 100 yards per game with seven touchdowns and is also averaging 39 yards receiving. Percy Turner has two touchdowns on the ground and one through the air while Khiry Draine has four touchdown catches. On defense Kendrick Causey has 63 tackles and Tevin Brock has one interception and two fumble recoveries. For the Lopers Luke McNitt has one touchdown passing and four touchdowns on the ground. Romero Cotton is averaging 51 yards per game on the ground with one touchdown on the year. On defense Kellen Werner is leading the way with 55 total tackles while Damien Wilson has two interceptions.
Central Missouri at Central Oklahoma
Central Missouri will hit the road to face of with Central Oklahoma in week seven. For the Mules Hayden Hawk is averaging 307 yards per game passing with 16 touchdowns in the air and two scores on the ground. Ronrei Lloyd has six touchdown catches and Anthony Kirkwood and Tristan McClelland each have three scores. Ricky Spratley leads the defense with 54 total tackles and Ramond Hunter leads the team with two sacks. For the Bronchos Joshua Birmingham is averaging 100 yards per game rushing with 11 touchdowns. Marquez Clark is averaging 144 yards per game receiving with four scores. On defense Adrian Shoecraft has 49 tackles and Antonio Jenkins and Tray Fagins each have one interception on the year.
#20 Emporia State at Lindenwood
#20 Emporia State will look to stay unbeaten as they travel to Lindenwood in week number seven. For the Hornets Brent Wilson is averaging 340 yards per game passing with 23 touchdowns and has three rushing scores. Austin Willis is averaging 132 yards per game receiving with nine scores and Ray Ray Davis is averaging 105 yards per game receiving with 10 total scores while Antonio Brown has seven rushing touchdowns. On defense Deshawn Dinwiddie has 42 tackles and Chris Poston has three interceptions. For the Lions Dillon Miller is averaging 278 yards per game passing with eight touchdowns. Marvin Byrd is averaging 77 yards per game on the ground with five scores. On defense Clint Koons has 41 tackles and Pierre Desir leads the team with three interceptions.
Eastern New Mexico at Northeastern State
Northeastern State looks to pick up their first win of the season as they step outside of league play and face Eastern New Mexico. For the RiverHawks Thor Long is averaging 137 yards per game passing with two touchdowns in the air and one on the ground. Terrance Dixon has five rushing touchdowns while averaging 56 yards per game. Defensively Langston Jones has 79 tackles including 3.5 for a loss and Kyler Harris has two interceptions. For the Greyhounds Jeremy Buurma is averaging 173 yards per game passing with five touchdowns. On the ground Christian Long has three touchdowns and Vaughn Johnson has two scores. Defensively Seth Bailey has 42 tackles and Julian Yearwood and Benjamin Langford each have two fumble recoveries.
Southwest Baptist at Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State rides a two game winning streak into week seven as they host Southwest Baptist in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week. For the Tigers Treveon Albert is averaging 170 yards per game passing with eight touchdowns through the air and three touchdowns on the ground. Edward Smith has four rushing touchdowns and Keaton Callins has four scores through the air. On defense Justin McPhail leads the team with 52 tackles and two sacks. For the Bearcats Willie Tindal is averaging 260 yards per game passing with 10 touchdowns. Derwyn Lauderdale is averaging 117 yards per game receiving with five scores on the year. #2 Northwest Missouri vs. #7 Pittsburg State
In the 2013 Fall Classic #2 Northwest Missouri will face off with #7 Pittsburg State in a battle of top ten unbeatens. For the Bearcats Trevor Adams is averaging 190 yards per game passing with 12 total scores and Brady Bolles is averaging 104 yards per game passing with eight total touchdowns. #4 Missouri Western at Missouri Southern
#4 Missouri Western will look to stay unbeaten as they travel to 5-1 Missouri Southern in week seven. For the Griffons Travis Partridge is averaging 193 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and eight touchdowns on the ground. Raphael Spencer is averaging 132 yards per game rushing with eight scores.
