MIAA Volleyball Digs Into Week Six

Kansas City, Mo. -- MIAA volleyball will take a break from league play as many teams travel to the Missouri Southern Crossover.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#4 Central Missouri travels to Joplin
Record: 17-0, 6-0 MIAA Oct. 11: #4 UCM vs. Arkansas Tech 2 p.m.
Oct. 11: #4 UCM vs. Southwestern Oklahoma State 6 p.m. Oct. 12: #4 UCM vs. Harding 1 p.m.
#4 Central Missouri will travel to Joplin to take part in the Missouri Southern Crossover in week number six. The Jennies are led by Taylor Goodness who is averaging 3.91 kills per set while hitting .326 and MIAA Hitter of the Week Carly Sojka who is averaging 2.75 kills per set. MIAA Specialist of the Week Julia Bates is averaging 11.09 assists per set on the year. On defense Annie Reilly is averaging 5.12 digs and Haley Thompson 0.98 blocks per set.

Central Oklahoma faces two at home in week six
Record: 12-4, 4-3 MIAA Oct. 12: UCO vs. Oklahoma City 12 p.m.
Oct. 12: UCM vs. Langston 4:30 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will step outside the league for two at home in the sixth week of play. The Bronchos are led by Barbara Jackson who is averaging 3.33 kills per set. In a two setter offense Katy Davis is averaging 6.55 assists per set and Taylyn Schwartz 6.85 assists per set. On the defense side of the net Tate Hardaker is averaging 5.96 digs per set and Juliette Smith 1.11 blocks per set.

Emporia State hits the road in week six
Record: 8-6, 2-4 MIAA Oct. 8: ESU at MWSU 7 p.m. Oct. 11: ESU vs. South Dakota Mines 12 p.m.
Oct. 11: ESU vs. Harding 4 p.m. Oct. 12: ESU vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State 9 a.m.
Emporia State will hit the road for four, three outside the league, during week six. The Hornets are led by Carly Spicer who is averaging 2.71 kills per set while hitting .333 on the year. In a two setter offense Macki Pankratz is averaging 5.53 assists per set and Sydney Hartman 4.92 assists per set. On defense Kelly Holden is averaging 4.44 digs per set and Courtney Haring is averaging 1.00 blocks per set.

Fort Hays State heads for Oklahoma
Record: 3-11, 1-6 MIAA
Oct. 8: FHSU at Oklahoma Panhandle State 4 p.m. Oct. 8: FHSU vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State 6 p.m.
Fort Hays State will look to bounce back as they head to Goodwell, Okla. for matches with Oklahoma Panhandle and Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Tigers are led on the attack by Taylor Mares who is averaging 2.36 kills per set. Libby Ary is averaging 5.18 assists per set on the year while Makenzie Weinman is averaging 4.41 digs per set.

Lindenwood faces a light week six
Record: 5-11, 2-3 MIAA
Oct. 8: LWU at Missouri St. Louis 7 p.m.
Lindenwood will hit the road as they face a light week with just one match in week six. The Lions are led by Aleah Rosenau averaging 2.62 kills per set and Kayla Guyot averaging 2.61 kills per set. Emma Brydels is the teams primary passer averaging 8.95 assists per set. On defense Ann Reichert is averaging 3.61 digs per set on the year.

Missouri Southern hosts crossover
Record: 3-11, 0-6 MIAA Oct. 10: MSSU vs. #13 WU 7 p.m. Oct. 11: MSSU vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State 6 p.m.
Oct. 12: MSSU vs. South Dakota Mines 11 a.m. Oct. 12: MSSU vs. Arkansas Tech 3 p.m.
Missouri Southern will look to get back to the winning side as they host the Missouri Southern Crossover. The Lions are led by Katie Politte who is averaging 3.54 kills per set. Abby Finder is the teams primary setter averaging 8.38 assists per set. On defense Politte is averaging 2.36 digs per set and Payton Graves 0.82 blocks per set.

Missouri Western travels to Missouri Southern
Record: 6-10, 4-3 MIAA Oct. 8: MWSU vs. ESU 7 p.m. Oct. 11: MWSU vs. Southwestern Oklahoma State 12 p.m.
Oct. 11: MWSU vs. South Dakota Mines 4 p.m. Oct. 12: MWSU vs. East Central 11 a.m.
Missouri Western will host Emporia State before traveling to the Missouri Southern Crossover to close out week six. The Griffons are led by Erica Rottinghaus who is averaging 3.02 kills per set. Jordan Chohon is averaging 5.63 assists per set and Kelly Scannell is averaging 4.86 assists per set. On defense Sarah Faubel is averaging 4.22 digs per set and Amanda Boender is averaging 1.11 blocks per set.

#8 Nebraska-Kearney heads out east
Record: 14-2, 4-1 MIAA Oct. 8: #8 UNK vs. #15 Wayne State 7 p.m. Oct. 11: #8 UNK at Pace 6 p.m.
Oct. 12: #8 UNK vs. Marrimack 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12: #8 UNK at New Haven 4 p.m.
#8 Nebraska-Kearney will face #15 Wayne State before traveling the eastern U.S. The Lopers are led by Ashley Leitner who is averaging 4.00 kills per set. Erin Seele is the teams top passer averaging 11.37 assists per set. On defense MJ Massanet is averaging 4.11 digs per set and Bailey Sokolowski is averaging 0.90 blocks per set.

Northwest Missouri heads for Joplin
Record: 6-8, 2-3 MIAA Oct. 10: NWMSU at PSU 2 p.m.
Oct. 11: NWMSU vs. SEOSU 2 p.m. Oct. 12: vs. HU/SWOSU 11 a.m./1 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will face Pittsburg State before traveling to the MSSU Crossover. The Bearcats are led by Abby Graves who is averaging 3.44 kills per set. Bridget Hanafin is the team primary passer averaging 10.54 assists per set. Bailey Vance leads the defense averaging 4.46 digs per set on the year.

Pittsburg State crosses border for MSSU Crossover
Record: 6-9, 3-4 MIAA Oct. 10: PSU vs. NWMSU 7 p.m.
Oct. 11: PSU vs. ECU/ATU 2/6 p.m. Oct. 12: PSU vs. SWOSU 3 p.m.
Pittsburg State will face Northwest Missouri before traveling to the MSSU Crossover. On the attack Crystal Whitten is averaging 3.81 kills per set. Hayley Hansford is averaging 9.22 assists per set on the year. On defense Jordan Rehm is averaging 5.24 digs per set and Haylee Gregory 0.84 blocks per set.

Southwest Baptist heads for MSSU crossover
Record: 10-5, 3-3 MIAA Oct. 8: SBU vs. Avila 7 p.m.
Oct. 11: SBU vs. HU 12 p.m. Oct. 12: SBU vs. SDM 9 a.m./ECU 3 p.m.
Southwest Baptist faces Avila at home before traveling to the MSSU Crossover. The Bearcats are led by Nikki Madoch who is averaging 2.51 kills per set. Kelsey Frankhauser is averaging 9.34 assists per set as the teams primary passer. On defense Hannah Blount is averaging 4.82 digs per set.

#13 Washburn heads for Joplin
Record: 15-3, 5-0 MIAA Oct. 10: #13 WU at MSSU 7 p.m.
Oct. 11: #13 WU vs. ECU 4 p.m. Oct. 12: vs. ATU/SEOSU 9 a.m./1 p.m.
#13 Washburn will travel to Missouri Southern for a league match and the Crossover. On the attack the Ichabods are led by Marissa Cox who is averaging 3.82 kills per set. Abby Wittman is the teams primary passer with 10.81 assists per set. On defense Kelsey Lewis is averaging 4.32 digs per set.
