Emporia, Kan __ February 5, 2014--Emporia State head football coach Garin Higgins announced the signing of 24 high school players to attend Emporia State and play football for the Hornets. Five transfers have also joined the class.

"We are very excited about this year's recruiting class," said Higgins. "They will provide us with excellent depth and the quality of transfers should provide immediate help."

The Hornets continued their work in the state of Oklahoma with 11 of the 24 high schoolers coming from the Sooner State along with ten Kansas recruits.

"Our coaches hard work, the support of Emporia State faculty and staff, the Emporia community and our success on the field has really helped us put an outstanding class together," said Higgins. "This is the type of class that we can get as a Top 25, playoff team."

Emporia State will host the Hornet Football Forecast Bash on Thursday, February 6 at Coaches Sports Bar and Grill. The event will begin with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. with Coach Higgins speaking at 7:00 p.m. Video highlights of the incoming class will be shown on the video screens in the back meeting room of Coaches.
