ESU Women Improve To 14-0, Men Fall At Lindenwood

January 6, 2014-The #3 Emporia State Lady Hornets had two players with double-doubles as they improved to 14-0 with an 81-66 win at Lindenwood on Monday night. It is the fourth best start in school history.

Laura Patrick scored the first eight points of the game in 1:46 to get things started for the Lady Hornets. Their lead would reach 11 points before Lindenwood battled back to tie the score at 29 with 1:47 left. Merissa Quick broke the tie with a jumper in the paint and Rheanna Egli hit a jumper and a three pointer as the Lady Hornets ended the half on a 7-2 run.

An old fashioned three-point play by Caroline Bourlioux for the Lions tied the score at 46 with 11:57 left in the game. The Lady Hornets then went on a 10-2 run to take the lead for good. A 9-0 run pushed the lead to 67-52 with 4:33 left in the game.

Patrick led all scorers with 22 points including a six of nine effort from behind the three-point line. Kionna Kellogg had 15 points and ten rebounds while Quick added 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four blcocked shots. Rheanna Egli scored 17 points with 13 coming in the first half.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Wednesday night at White Auditorium. Tip-off against Missouri Western is set for 5:30 p.m.

Patrick passed Aneta Kausaite and is now tied with Jamie Blakely for ninth on the Lady Hornets career list with 123 made three-pointers.
Quick passed Shelley Moore and is now fourth on the Lady Hornets career list with 148 blocked shots.
The 14 straight wins is tied for the sixth longest in Lady Hornet history and the fourth best start in school history.



The Emporia State men were tied at 58-58 with 6:07 left before falling 76-63 at Lindenwood on Monday night in St. Charles, Mo.
