Hornets To Face Two-Time National Champions Minn.-Duluth In First Round

November 17, 2013 - With a 9-1 record and their second consecutive MIAA runner-up finish, the Emporia State football team has earned a #5 seed in the NCAA Division II Super Region-3 Playoffs. The Hornets will travel north to take on #4 seed Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday, November 23 in Duluth, Minn.

The Bulldogs were the 2008 and 2010 National Champions and finished second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) this season with a 10-1 record.

This is the second trip to the NCAA playoffs for the Hornets and the first since 2003. Emporia State had to go to Minnesota in their last trip to the playoffs as well, when they fell 10-3 at Winona State in 2003.
