Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie was obliterated by the Tigers Thursday night, dropping to 5-8 on the year. The right-hander was charged with eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings of a 16-4 defeat.

CBSSports.com Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie was obliterated by the Tigers Thursday night, dropping to 5-8 on the year. The right-hander was charged with eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings of a 16-4 defeat.

Over his last two starts covering eight innings, Guthrie has allowed 14 earned runs. He owns a 4.56 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over 19 starts (120 1/3 innings). His next start will come after the All-Star break.
