ARLINGTON, Tex. (CBS) -- Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie turned in a fantastic start Saturday against the Rangers.

Guthrie allowed one run on five hits over eight innings. He struck out two and walked one during the outing. Guthrie gave up his only run immediately. He gave up a solo home run to Shin-Soo Choo in the bottom of the first inning. Guthrie would not allow a hit or a walk to the next 12 batters he faced. Leonys Martin singled to start the fifth, breaking the streak. Guthrie wound up throwing 111 pitches over the start.

With the win, Guthrie improved to 10-10. He’ll take on the Twins in his next start.
