TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Silver Lake Eagles came from a 6-0 deficit entering the 5th inning to upset Marion 9-8 and advance in the 3A state baseball tournament Thursday at Washburn's Falley Field.
Silver Lake scored four runs in the fifth and added four more in the sixth to take the lead, 8-7. Marion tied it up, but in the top of the 7th, the Eagles' Jace Freeman sent a hit down the first base line that got past the first baseman and kept rolling, allowing him to round the bases for an inside-the-park home run that would prove to be the difference.
Silver Lake faces Wellsville in Friday's semifinal.
