Hiawatha, Kan (WIBW) --- Peyton Newell, a highly recruited defensive lineman from Hiawatha High School, says he's going to Nebraska. The 6'3" 280 pound Newell picked the Huskers over other finalists Kansas, Kansas State, and South Carolina. He made the announcement in an assembly after school on Friday afternoon
Rated as a 3-star recruit by Rivals, Newell has been a Nebraska fan most of his life. He said that he told Bo Pelini about his choice when he made a visit to Lincoln in June, but has kept the decision quiet since then.
Original Story from June 1st:
Peyton Newell may not be a household name yet, but he's working on it.
Newell is one of the highest recruited football prospects ever in the history of the Sunflower State, holding 34 division I scholarship offers, but he hasn't let that go to his head.
Peyton sat down with 13 Sports Kinch O'Kelley to talk about about football, and his motivation to always play his best.
Peyton will release his list of Top 6 schools tonight at 6 o'clock.
