Incoming Highland Park Basketball Coach Visits School

Incoming Highland Park High School basketball coach Jason Jones visited the school Thursday.

Highland Park High School's new boys basketball coach paid a visit to the school Thursday.

Among those on hand to greet Jason Jones was the peson he is succeeding, Ken Darting. The two shook hands and took a walk through the gym.

Jones most recently coached in Florida. He grew up in Colorado, but came to Kansas to play college ball at Sterling, where met his wife, who is from Topeka. Jones then coached at Wetmore, Humboldt and Ulysses.

Jones says his heart and roots are in Kansas, so it made sense to return to Topeka.

Darting retired after 13 seasons and four state titles with the Scots.
